How long should the video be?

  • Plan on an average time of 7 seconds per photo , with a 1 second dissolve on either end. About 10 pictures a minute -- this is the recommended "pace".
  • An average song is about 3-4 minutes long.
  • This means that a 100 photo video is about 10 minutes long and uses about 3 songs.
  • If you are interested in adding video clips, these should generally be kept to under, 1 minute each.
  • Ultimately, the length of the total video is up to you and depends on your needs.

How long will it take you to complete my project?

This depends upon the type of services you require and the complexity of the project. Video montages can often be created within 1 week. Digitizing video is usually done within 2-3 business days once we have received your source videos. We are also available to do "rush" jobs in the case of unforeseen events such as funerals. We will ship your completed tribute video within 24 hours of receiving your materials. For all projects, how quickly you can provide us with all of the required source information and materials will reduce completion time.

For video montages, can I provide you with photos that I have scanned in myself or ones which I've taken with my digital camera?

Yes! We will return your materials, packed safely using every precaution. We treat everything you send us as if it were our own.

What if my DVD doesn't play?

If your DVD does not play we will do everything we can to give you a solution that will work. If no solution can be reached, Digital Video Magic will refund your money.

Are the DVDs that you burn compatible with my DVD player?

Can it play on my computer?

The DVD will only play if your computer has a DVD player. Most newer computers already have DVD capabilities.

Can I order additional copies of my video?

Yes. At the time of purchase you can order additional copies of the DVD or VHS. We will also keep products on file and you may reorder anytime.

What about Photo Retouching?

We will do some minor photo retouching of digital images to enhance the Video Slideshow experience. This will include color correction, cropping, straightening, and enhancing the detail and lighting. This will be done as part of the service to ensure that your Video Slideshow is a truly magical experience.

What formats do you accept for video?

We can process most any type of video including VHS, S-VHS, Hi8, mini DV, and DV cam. We do not process 8 mm film or Beta tapes in house but can have them transferred by one of our partners for an additional expense.

How do I select music?

You should use songs that are meaningful to you and fit the mood of the photos. You can provide your songs to us on CD.

How can I present my video?

Your video can be presented on either a television set or on a projection screen. A television is fine for small groups, but using a projector is preferable if you are presenting your video in a large hall. How do you accept payment?

Who owns the copyrights to my finished video?

Dvmslideshows.com releases the copyright to all videos that we create. We permit you to make as many additional copies as you like from the videos that you purchase. Just be aware that the quality will be much lower than copies made from our master version.

How do I send in my photos and music?

It is up to the customer to package everything very carefully and mail it to us. We suggest using UPS or FedEx. We will send you back your completed photos along with everything you sent us free of charge.

What can I put in a Slideshow Video?

Any combination of video, pictures, slides, photo negatives can be used along with any other types of paper media that can be digitized on our flatbed scanners. This would include items such as announcements, newspaper articles, brochures, flyers, ticket stubs, cards and letters, licenses or just about anything you can imagine. Remember that these images in the montage can all have captions of your choosing or design.
